Unconscious Bias

All of us hold biases, it is how we organize the world around us. We use, to varying degrees, experience, assumptions, and data (though that data may be faulty) to make broad based assumptions about the world and the people around us. Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside of our own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs about various social and identity groups though the impact of those biases varies.

Communicating Across Differences, Part 1 & 2

How we communicate is rooted not only in our family of origin and the community in which we were raised but also by the narrative and feedback society provides to and about us as we mature into adults. Many workplace conflicts can be traced back to both the style of communication and the interpretation of communication. None of our systems or our activities are race neutral, not even how we give and receive information.
In Part 2 we dig deeper into learning about communication and build on what you learned in Part 1.

The Color of Leadership and Onboarding Leaders of Color

This module uncovers the elephant in the room, how race impacts the perception, opportunities, support, and evaluation of and for black and other leaders of color. Shari utilizes research to examine a phenomenon she has as “Competency Checking” is undermining Black and other marginalized leaders in the workplace.
